pybliographic can't open file resources with spaces in path

I have added URL fields containing file:// type locations to my bibliographic database. Some of the file paths contain spaces. Within Pybliographic the files open correctly in the relevant viewer when I click the [...] button in the preview pane but not if select View... Resource from the program menu or if I right click the icon on the left of the entry list. I guess somewhere within the program file/path names are not being escaped properly. I think it should be a simple fix for someone familiar with the inner workings of the program.
