Bug Description

pristine-tar 1.20 from Ubuntu Precise is failing to reproduce original tarball. It is not possible to do any packaging work using for example 'git-buildpackage'.

This bug is fixed in Debian in version 1.21 - see [1]. Please consider upgrading at least to version 1.21.

I've had this problem when building on both Precise and Quantal. However, I've only had it with a 700MB source tarball.
