Bug Description

I'm using jaunty LPIA, on a samsung nc10.
Hibernation doesn't work, suspend does.
It just doesn't resume, after powering on the netbook, it boots as usual

My installation misses /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume
How do I install it?

it works just if I add resume=/dev/sdaXY to grub's menu.list

Hmmm, its very odd that resume works with resume=/dev/foo and not with the configured UUID file. Can you describe what you see when it fails, it might be worth turning off usplash and quiet, and allowing this to fail, particularly do you see "Waiting for resume device" messages. Could you try testing this with resume=UUID=foo (matching the file) and see if that works from grub (I don't think it will).

Finally could you attach the full output of the command below:

    zcat /boot/initrd.img-2.6.28-11-lpia | cpio -it

without resume option to the grub line, no "waiting for resume device" is printed, even after an hibernation.

adding resume=UUID=9e4d099e-bed3-419b-ad00-bac7985ea127 makes the pc RESUME from the hibernation (just line resume=/dev/sda5)

So swe know that the udev side is all fine as you can use the UUID correctly. We are somehow missing the configuration information from the conf/conf.d/resume file.

Could you:
1) attach the whole of your initrd
2) attach cat /proc/cmdline from a normal boot

Hi,
I bought a TV last week from a website:www.hkeles.com. I have
received the product. The quality is very good. They also sell
phones, motor, psp and so on. Because of the financial crisis, their
products are very cheap. by the way, they only sell new and original
products .If you need these products, you can have a look . I think
you will get many benefits.
Greetings!
