Bug Description
I installed pm-utils, then ran sudo pm-hibernate, which simply made the screen flash, and nothing else happened.
A workaround seems to be to edit the file /etc/pm/
HIBERNATE_
...and after this, sudo pm-hibernate successfully hibernates the system.
To make this change integrated with the desktop (make hibernate appear in the menus) you edit a policykit file, following the highest-voted solution at...
http://
...and after a restart there should be new options and you should be able to use them within the power management routines of Ubuntu (Gnome in my case). Rebooting now.
