Bug Description

Hello, today i upgraded my Ubuntu from 22.04 to 22.10. And i had no sound.

But i found solution. I did this:
systemctl start --user pulseaudio

And all fixed, i have sound.

Service status after reboot:
systemctl status --user pulseaudio
○ pulseaudio.service - Sound Service
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/user/pulseaudio.service; enabled; preset: enabled)
     Active: inactive (dead)

I do not understand why 'dead', because this service enabled.

Anyway, i fixed it by manual start.

I do not sure that i did a correct command, but i have sound now.

I hope this is bug. But do not sure.

I am using simple 3.5mm headphones with mic.

I also lost audio after upgrade but I think the cause in my case was that I had already pipewire installed on 22.04 before upgrading, but anyway I will share the steps that solved the issue so everyone can try them:
remove /etc/pipewire, /usr/share/pipewire, usr/share/pipewire-pulse, use/share/wireplumber so no misconfigured files are left. Then reinstall the above package and try activating them with systemctl.

Pipewire from repo for me buggy and unusable.

I added this ppa-repo:
https://launchpad.net/~pipewire-debian/+archive/ubuntu/pipewire-upstream

Replaced kinetic by jammy in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pipewire-debian-ubuntu-pipewire-upstream-kinetic.list

Made
apt update
apt upgrade
reboot

And i have sound now!

Also i did it (not sure that needed):
// Check for new service files with:
systemctl --user daemon-reload
// Disable and stop the PulseAudio service with:
systemctl --user --now disable pulseaudio.service pulseaudio.socket
// Enable and start the new pipewire-pulse service with:
systemctl --user --now enable pipewire pipewire-pulse
systemctl --user mask pulseaudio
