Pidgin main window doesn't re-appear after closing

Bug Description
I regularly stumble over this. When having the main pidgin window closed I can't make it to come back. Neither clicking the logo in the unity side bar nor clicking the icon in the communication menu.
I need to restart pidgin to get it back. Very annoying.
