Bug Description

UI repreatedly not visible. Occurs on random log ins to Ubuntu.

Despite closing and restarting the application, the UI will fail to appear until system is rebooted.

It often works pefrectly, but sometimes on a ubuntu session, it simply wont appear :(

I initially had it set as a startup application and thought that perhaps it was not showing the UI on boot, so i disabled the startup command, choosing to manually start the application as required - same issue.

By the UI, I'm referring to the contacts interface that show's who's online and what they're doing etc (I use pidgin only for the gfire plugin).

other UIs are available, such as About, Report a problem, tools menu windows etc etc.

I can verify this - after fresh system reboot, starting pidgin will start the process, but the Pidgin window will not appear until you kill the process and start Pidgin again.

The quick workaround, instead of rebooting the PC, like OP suggested, you can use 'killall pidgin' in terminal and then start Pidgin again.
