Bug Description
Binary package hint: pidgin
A new conversation window or tab is created when "Ctrl+M" is used to send a message to a buddy. But focus is not transferred to this window, and instead goes back to the buddy list. As a result, one has to switch to the new window before typing the message. To be specific, this happens when you press "Ctrl+M" in the buddy list.
Ubuntu release: 8.04
Package version for Pidgin: 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. In Hardy-Backports there is the version 1:2.4.3- 0ubuntu1~ hardy1 which has this issue resolved (at least for me). Could you please try that version?
