Bug Description

Welcome to our daily dose of.... Is this a bug or a feature?

Using 21.10-latest with both caja & PCManFM open on TTY7 it is impossible to different one from the other based on it's icon in the bottom status bar.

See attachment.

User expectation: but I thought ALL software had "their own"?

The icons are really same:

$ cat /usr/share/applications/pcmanfm.desktop | grep Icon
Icon=system-file-manager
$ cat /usr/share/applications/caja.desktop | grep Icon
Icon=system-file-manager

You are welcome to redefine them on local system or prepare feature requests about unique icons.

Feature. Both of these are deliberately using a generic system icon because in a default installation of a certain desktop environment, you’ll have only one.

Changed in caja (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid
