installer selects disk that's too small by default

partman-auto (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

When I choose "Guided - use entire disk" the installer selects the first disk even if this disk isn't large enough for an Ubuntu installation. The default choice should be a working one.

Triaged to Confirmed. Though not a common use case on newer machines, as more people try Ubuntu, the use case space will increase. How difficult is it add a check for partition size before selecting an installation partition?

Slightly more fiddly than you might think since that code is shared with the server installer, and the current arrangements for picking a default would interfere with preseeding unless handled carefully. However, in Ubuntu 8.04, Ubiquity will warn if you pick something that's too small, so it's not so urgent to get the default right.
