After installing panflute-applet it's not obvious how to add it to panel or use it

I have just installed panflut-applet via apt, however it's not showing up in the "Add to Panel..". It's not obvious how to actually start this.

(This is either a software bug where it's not starting, or a documentation bug, since there is no obvious documentation/help available via manpages or web page)
