fprint: GKSU and GDM aren't asking to swipe the finger over the reader

I have the same problem with DailyBuild April 14th on my Dell XPS M1330.

fprint does not ask to swipe fingers, neither at login nor at superuser actions.
thinkfinger seems to be unsupported and outdated.

I guess it may be to late to solve this Issue before RC / Final comes out :-(

I confirm this behavior in the Jaunty release. Any chance it gets fixed?

The bug exists still in the new karmic release - fprint works fine with gdm, screen-locking and in the terminal, but gksu does not give any message, that you should swipe the finger. However, if I swipe my finger, the command is executed as root.

Starting gksu in a terminal it prints the message on a terminal, but no graphical message.

The bug still exists in Lucid, as well. And exists in Fedora 11. If you look at the tabs for active windows, you should see a "Starting Administrative ...", but it won't pop-up.

This might be related to the problem described on ThinkWiki at http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_enable_the_fingerprint_reader_with_ThinkFinger#GNOME, but I haven't yet looked at the current code. The prompt, when authenticating on the console, is "Scan right index finger on UPEK TouchStrip."

To be clearer, on Lucid and Fedora, the problem is with administrative programs, not the GDM login.

Lots of confirmation about the lack of visual prompt ... I suppose that people haven't noticed the Window List entry for the prompt window, which isn't otherwise presented.

As best I understand it, the problem is with gksu(do).
