Bug Description
Binary package hint: os-prober
My Windows Vista (on sda1) is not recognized any more by os-prober. (i remember it was recognized some weeks ago by same command).
Following command is typed from an installed Lucid (not live-session):
$ sudo LANG=C os-prober
ls: cannot access /var/lib/
boot: No such file or directory
/dev/sda5:Ubuntu 9.10 (9.10):Ubuntu:linux
FYI :
$ sudo LANG=C fdisk -l
Disk /dev/sda: 100.0 GB, 100030242816 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 12161 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x640563cc
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System

Ok, I found the reason : os-prober cannot detect Windows if the Windows partition has got a "boot" folder.
I just deleted the "boot" folder and os-prober detects windows back.
