Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I recently installed Ubuntu 7.04 and added the KDE desktop which is available in the same installation CD. However, when I open the OpenOffice word processor I observe no graphics or icons of any kind, and the OpenOffice displaay is very, very similar to a text interface, with no icons whatsoever. Please help me to solve this issue, because I feel more comfortable using the KDE desktop.

The above problem does not happen with the GNOME desktop.

Please help me!

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
Can you tell us the version of OpenOffice you are experiencing the problem with? Also, could you run OpenOffice Writer using Konsole?
To do that: Use the <Alt>+<F2> shortcut to get a Run Command Dialog. Execute the command: "konsole". Then a terminal will open. Execute the command "oowriter2 > log_oo.txt". When the OpenOffice Writer loads completely (and the error gets reproduced), you can close it. After that, simply, attach the file log_oo.txt which was created, in this bug report.
Thanks again!

seems like openoffice.org-style-human (which is the default style, AFAIK) isn't properly installed in Kubuntu; changing the style to Crystal in OOo settings dialog fixes it. I'll try to re-install the human style later to see if that fixes it.

yep, reinstallation of openoffice.org-style-human solved the problem, apparently, although all the styles seem to look the same on my box (freshly installed feisty)

Good to see that your problem is solved. I'll, now, mark this as confirmed and as a duplicate, since there is another report to this problem.
