Yes, the activities view, Onboard doesn't support it at this time, sorry. Same with password screens in gnome shell. I'd like this to change, I really do, but it's difficult to justify extensive coding for just a single platform. Adding features that work in multiple desktop environments had and will have precedence.
As far as I'm aware, what is required is a gnome shell extension that embeds the keyboard wherever it is needed. If anyone steps forward and wants to try implementing that, I'd be very happy to help.
