Bug Description

Choppy video is also present in games: Kpatience, Mahjongg, etc.

In Ubuntu 16.04 on same computer all is smoothe and fast.

My desktop with AMD ASUS mb and GeForce 720 nvidia card:

Very choppy video, no smoothe scrolling. Drivers 440, 435, 340, 390 make no difference.

If you'd like me to test, just email me.

Thanks,

Ken Wagner

Ubuntu:

Linux ken-desktop 4.15.0-96-generic #97~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 1 03:03:31 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

FireFox 75.0 Expected smooth scrolling as in Ubuntu 16.04.

Actual result: very choppy video almost everywhere (not just in FireFox).

Solution Found!!

After many, many hours installing & reinstalling Ubuntu 20.04 and customizing my setup.

Serendipity struck!!

I quit the "System Load Indicator" installed via the Snap Store and ***VOILA!!*** stuttering all gone.

Yet this same app works just fine in 16.04 & 18.04.

Is there a fix other than not using it? I run it all the time to monitor CPU, memory & internet usage.

Thanks,

Ken Wagner

System Load Indicator or by its apt name 'indicator-multiload'
