Lockup on Log out, switch user

Bug Description
When ever I try to log out or try to switch users, the system halts, No keyboard commands will work, just a blank screen, I have to restart the system. This is reproduce-able every time, this worked perfectly in 8.04!

same here - switch user and log out leads to blank screen.
one workaround i found is to use 2.6.31-20 kernel from 9.10
