Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-impress

OpenOffice.org has many graphics glitches on menus, buttons and graphics in files. See the attached movie for an example of how an Impress presentation has glitches in the text.

Confirmed with NVidia drivers 180.44 and 185.18.14 and OpenOffice.org 3.0.1.

Do you still have this problem if you do not use the 'nvidia' driver? The 'nvidia' driver has been a well known cause for many problems like this.

The 'vesa' driver does not exhibit this problem.

Please have a look at this blog post that describes a Compiz workaround for this issue:

I have yet to confirm that this solves the problem, since I cannot positively confirm it immediately (The bug reveales itself arbitrarily).

I hope this can help you in the making of a more permanent solution.

I've posted a new version of the -nvidia driver to our xorg-edgers PPA,
would you mind testing it either on Jaunty or Karmic and see if it
resolves this bug?

I'm headed for a holiday for more than a week, so testing done by me will have to wait until after july 7th. If no one has tested the new nvidia drivers by then, I will be happy to do so.

Doesn't work with 185.18.14-0ubuntu1. Glitches might be fewer though, but I have no idea how much. Might also be imagination.
