I installed i3 and after that the appearance of notifications has changed. (A screenshot has been attached.). The appearance does not revert back to the initial state even after purging the i3 package.

I can confirm the same bug still existing in Ubuntu 16.04. The i3-style notifications are present on Unity desktop even after uninstalling i3.
As a sidenote, installing i3 also changes the login screen to use i3-style notifications. It would be aesthetically better if the login screen always used Unity-style notifications.
