Bug Description

Having this problem since 11.04.
Seems like this is long-term bug that haven't been fixed yet.

When try to establish VPN connection on new Ubuntu 12.04 I am still coming up with the message 'VPN service failed.'

Things, that I have already tried:
1) Tick/Untick 'Available for all'
2) Adding refuse-eap=yes in gconf-editor
3) Various hints that popped up from Google.

My syslog:

There is no evidence of a bug here yet. You're getting logs reporting that the connecton was terminated because of a short read on GRE packets, and timeouts. I'd suggest looking at whether the underlying connections are properly established first -- for instance, wlan0 appears to be getting turned up while you're connecting to the vpn, so maybe the default route is changing?

Please see if you can add any additional information to this bug report. Thanks!

I will glad to provide any logs needed!
wlan0 is up everytime during connecting. I observed this type of behavior on a couple other laptops
in our network. Since I am a kind of system administrator here this is my neck pain..

What other things can I add? Authentication algorithm is MSCHAPv2, with no compression.

In my case, I am connected to the vpn from the panel, the connection is made, but after about 10 seconds it disconnects.

I have the same errors as Aliaksei. Could not connect to my vpn as well.

I tried disabling the firewall using firestarter, and it connects for a while (10 seconds maybe?), but disconnects again. But during the time my pc is connected to the vpn, I still have no internet access.

I'm not sure if it helps, but i tried opening port 1723 and 47, and activated the firewall through firestarter, but still could not connect. The only way for the vpn to connect is to disable the firewall: but it again disconnect after a while giving me no internet connection while connected.

I will be attaching the syslogs when I was able to connect (with firewall disabled) and when I was not able to connect to vpn (firewall active).
