Bug Description

I downloaded a daily build from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/, put it on my USB drive (using MultiSystem, if that makes any difference) and booted. It immediately booted to the desktop (the Ubiquity thingy where you choose whether you want to try or install doesn't show up when I boot from my USB drive). I connected to a wireless network using the network indicator, played around a bit to see what had changed, and started the installation. It asked me which language I'd like to use, I chose Dutch. I proceded and was presented with the choice to install updates and codecs. But I couldn't check the box to install updates, because Ubiquity told me I wasn't connected to the internet, but I was. In the next step it asked me if I wanted to connect to a wireless network. When I clicked on the network I was actually already connected to, the password box contained the password I had already entered to connect to my network the first time.

The problems with this:
  1. Ubiquity said I wasn't connected, but I was.
  2. The network configuration step comes *after* the step where you can choose to install updates during the installation, so you can't actually tick the box.

Additional information:
  Ubuntu 12.04 AMD64 Daily Build, downloaded a few hours ago.
  Grub menu entry which I used to boot the ISO from my USB drive:

  Unity 2D (I think, I saw that metacity was running, and not compiz. I can't really visually tell the difference anymore between Unity 2D and Unity 3D.)

On a system with this bug, can you check what you're getting from:
wget -O - -q http://start.ubuntu.com/connectivity-check.html

And attach that result to the bug please.

The problem still exists on Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 2 AMD64.

After you hit that bug, can you attach /var/log/syslog and /var/log/installer/debug?

The exact check is:
wget -q http://start.ubuntu.com/connectivity-check.html --timeout=15 --tries=1 -O - | md5sum

Which needs to return:
4589f42e1546aa47ca181e5d949d310b -

This check is run just after Network Manager sends a connection-change event.

Checking the current Network Manager state would also be useful:
dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.state

Should return:
   uint32 70

This happened to me during install of Raring Final image: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/20130424/raring-desktop-armhf+omap4.img while testing on a Panda board on ARM:

- On the "Welcome" window I selected Italian language
- Clicked on network manager icon in indicator bar (top left side of screen) and connected to a wireless network
- waited quite a while but the status of the "is connected to internet" item did not change to green tick
- clicked on continue all the same, on the "Wireless" window I was asked if I wanted to connect to a wireless network as it did not seem to detect I was already connected
- selected to connect to the wireless network I was already connected to, entered the password, and continued installation normally.

I am attaching a screenshot where you can see I am connected to a wireless network but the status of the "is connected to internet" item is not a green tick.
