bionic: VPN not working at all

VPN is completely busted on bionic-desktop (4/21/2018). In 17.10 my VPN was still working, "only" had to do a `killall nm-applet; nohup nm-applet &` to get the password prompt to show up. In bionic, at least that portion now works without work-around. However, I can't establish my VPN to my workplace at all.

My VPN configuration in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/Test seems rather basic:
