Bug Description
1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Release: 14.04
2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center
network-manager:

Candidate: 0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7

3) What you expected to happen
The 'Additional DNS servers' and 'Additional search domains' settings would be respected when the 'Use connection for resources only on this resource' checkbox is checked.
4) What happened instead
When configuring a PPTP VPN, on the IPv4 settings tab, set the 'Additional DNS servers' to the IP address of the VPN DNS server; the 'Additional search domains' to the domain suffix of of the VPN respectively. Furthermore hit the 'Routes' button and select the 'Use connection for resources only on this resource' checkbox. Furthermore set up a route for the VPN.
Once connected to the network, attempts to resolve names on the network failed. The same configuration without the above settings works to resolve names, however all network traffic is funneled through the VPN. If names are resolved using the command line utility dig and specifiying the DNS server, it works as expected.
