Bug Description

feisty fawn flle browser search doesn't remember previous search results.

Open file browser and search for anything - better to search for something in a large set of files.

I did a search for My Windows directory in a 53 GB windows ntfs partition that was mounted

It did find the results successfully. However when I went into another directory and did the same search again it started all over again.

Windows I guess remembers /stores in some kind of cache the previous search results.

Maybe this is a feature which was not planned for this release and maybe planned for a future release.

hey i see that bug id which you have marked duplicate is for starting search from the current directory.
I am talking about caching results of a previous search. Is this also fixed as part of the same patch.

Saving the search results is already a feature of nautilus. Just go to File -> Save search as... to save your search. Did you mean that? If so, sorry for misunderstanding.

yes i did see the saving search option and meant saving search option of nautilus ...however it will be a good thing if this is automatic...
based on the search pattern we gave as input - say we searched for "ABC*" from directory C:\. We repeated the same search in another context. Then
the results of the search can be returned from the saved context rather than doing the search all over again.

Ok, I see. This is no bug then, it is more a request of a new feature. Your idea might get more attention and have the possibility of being implemented if you submit a specification for it. First check whether the idea is already registered <https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+specs>, and if so, contact the specification's drafter about your ideas. Otherwise, you can start writing a spec yourself. <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FeatureSpecifications> Maybe you could enhance the feature spec of <https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/search-at-current-location> with your idea of a caching mechanism. Please talk to the drafter about that issue.
