Bug Description

Hello everyone,

I have 3 totaly different machines affected here.

First : AMD processor Nvidia Graphics card and nvidia-390
Second : Laptop Intel / Nvidia with nvidia-driver-396
Third : AMD Ryzen 7 2700X + nvidia-driver-390

On each one, this happened at least one time :
Working with many windows, then try to open a browsing window (a "save as" Screenshot of an example that crashed last time as attachment) then → black screen.

Sometimes, just CTRL + ALT+ 1 then CTRL + ALT + 2 and wait... fixes itself.
Most of the time, still black.

if CTRL+ALT+3 → log in → killall nautilus, firefox and people involved... 50% chances it stays blocked.
If you try a sudo service gdm restart, you can log in again then .... black screen !

You have to reboot.

This time I got my blender window back but nother else. Gnome is dead, no windows, nothing. I used :
DISPLAY=:1.0 compiz --replace &
to restart compiz but it looks like it was not the true culprit here :-(

If I close Blender, I have the desktop. Nautilus is ok. I can right-click and open a terminal too. The terminal and Nautilus windows have headers, I can move them.

So I tried, in a terminal :
gnome-shell --replace &

hesitated, back to no bars
Again CTRL + ALT + F3
DISPLAY=:1.0 gnome-shell replace &
black screen
DISPLAY=:1.0 compiz replace &
CTRL+ALT+F2, back to windows and no bars
DISPLAY=:1.0 gnome-shell replace & → nothing
I insist and, in a new terminal :
DISPLAY=:1.0 gnome-shell replace &

This time everything gets back to normal yaaaay !

Looks like it really is a gnome shell bug !
