Bug Description

Arale ( Meizu MX4)

When playing music either from music player or my music scope the capacitive button doesn't deactivate on Locked screen as usual.

Usually it deactivates but on music playback it doesn't.

This bug is since OTA8 days afaik

currently on rc-proposed r276 and it's still there

if any more of the information is needed i can gladly help

forgot to add

if any sort of music plays and you have screen locked it auto unlocks with the capacitive button and heads straight to Today scope from locked state

I'd like to confirm that this annoying bug is still present in OTA-10.1.

@marko: What exactly do you mean by the capacitive button doesn't deactivate? Do you mean that it's lit up white or green from a notification and you'd expect it to turn off, or just that it should no longer be lit up as white when the screen is locked during music playback?

Can you also try another thing:

1. Start playing a video from the video scope.
2. Lock the screen and verify that video playback has paused.
3. Does the lit button turn off?

Doesn't deactivate as in... when the screen is locked you can still "press" it (it lights up normally ) and it will automatically wake up the screen, unlock the phone and go to Today scope... without pressing the Lock/Unlock button

as for your suggestion i don't have the device near me atm can test it later

I have the Meizu mx4 near me: Start a video (Media Player) then lock the screen (stops the video/sound as expected).

I see the following behaviour (I think it's consistent):
a) Pressing the capacitive button within a second or two after screen lock, the mx4 responds to the capacitive button and hops straight to the home screen.
b) If you wait longer than say 5 seconds or longer, the mx4 does not respond to the capacitive button, and can be unlocked as usual.

Hope this helps.

not for me on RC proposed... it responds any at any time

Interesting, so it's not consistent across multiple MX4s. What versions of Ubuntu Touch are you both running? Will need to see how this behaves on a freshly flashed MX4 with the same version.

plain old 15.04 OTA-10.1. Note that my music player behaves as per Marko's original description.

meizu mx4 on ota11:
The bug still exists. Open any kind of app which plays music. Lock the screen.

Expected behavior:
The capacitive button should not do anything.

Actual behavior:
The capacitive button wakes the phone.

This is very annoying, as the capacitive button is very sensitive and wakes the phone, even when its in the pocket.

Bug is still present in newly-released OTA12 months after reporting it.

This reflects badly on Ubuntu-Touch - a smartphone trying to compete but doesn't even provide basic nuisance-free music player capability. Try to play music with the MX4 in your trouser pocket.

I've given up on Ubuntu Touch and MX4 - sorry. I'm not a developer (just a user who wanted to support the Ubuntu Touch project). I've had the MX4 four about 18 months in total. 5 months after reporting this bug severely affecting the devices usefulness, and running into countless bluetooth headphones issues, no meaningful response from any developer, I'm switching back to Android and Nexus phone.
