mdadm schedules a run of checkarray once a month using an entry in /etc/cron.d
However, if the machine is not running at the time this is scheduled it will not be run, even when the machine is reloaded.
Perhaps this should be moved to /etc/cron.monthly so that anacron can pick it up.
