mc should warn prior to attempting to copy a file >4 GB to vfat partition instead of crashing

I am aware of the fact, that vfat is unable to handle such large files.
Is it possible to check this before copying and present a warning to the user?

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 alpha?

setting back to new for now, and raising importance to low, this is not wishlist...

however, since vfat partitions have a maximum of 4GB, i don't see how this could be a vfat-specific problem...
i have no >4gb file to test, though... christoph, can you please elaborate?

I agree with Daniel T Chen this is a wishlist. This is a request to "ignorance proof" the attempt to copy larger than limits of the FS. For example, implementing some FS copy checker script. This bug should be marked as this or triaged.

I can't set the importance of the bugs for some reasons. Sure I don't need it. I've just forwarded it upstream. If you'd like to help me to triage bugs for mc just check if the are already reported upstream (in such a case link them to the report) and if not escalate them without asking ;-)
