@Walter: mail-notification is working on my system. I was part of bug 845990 during beta.
Now I'm reporting the program has no integration in the systray (or either the systray doesn't show it).

Do you have whitelisted the systray, either by:

gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist "['mail-notification']"

or

gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist "['all']"

Please mark the bug as "new" as you ansswer, as "confirmed" is reserved to some other user with the same issue.

Are there any other systray indicators showing up in the systray?

@Walter: All other programs with a systray indicator are showing (skype, dropbox, etc.); the only recognized excetpion is mail-notification.

I'm using mail-notification and seeing the icon. A dumb question: could it be that your configuration is setup in such a way as to not show the icon? To check enter "gconf...." in the Unith dash and open the Gnome configuration tool. Click on application and look for mail-notification.

I'm attaching a screenshot of how my configuration looks like.

I noticed this is affecting Unity-2D only (I use it on 2 different machines).

Support for gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist "['all']" has landed in Unity 2D recently. Can you please check if that fixes your issue? Thank you.
