Hey there, I'm having this issue with a Mint 19 (bionic) installation and two Marvell 88E8053 NICs. Logged in, press the power button or the Suspend menu, computer goes to sleep. When awoken from the power button, "Network cable is disconnected".
I found the workaround of "sudo modprobe -r sky2; modprobe -i sky2" to work quite nicely.
