Bug Description

Contrary to my previous message, the kernel 3.19.0.31 is completely broke.

Sound card either not found or replaced by a "Dummy device" (producing no sounds whatsoever)
Network Manager nm-applet Icon not shown in the task bar (network connection sometimes works, sometimes does not connect)

It seems that the bootup mechanism does not load all neccessary modules

This is a duplicate of bug #1503655. The issue has been identified in several kernel versions, and a fix has been uploaded. In the meantime, I've a test kernel that can be used to confirm if this is *really* the same bug.

People running Trusty (3.13 kernel) can try: http://people.canonical.com/~henrix/lp1503655/t/amd64/
People running Vivid (3.19 kernel) can try: http://people.canonical.com/~henrix/lp1503655/v/amd64/

well i can boot. but after lock screen (either login or guest) system completely hangs. (14.04.3 Trusty) - Using laptop e7240 i5 Vpro.

Way to fix: CTRL+ALT+f1 on login screen to drop to cmd prompt.

Login & edit /etc/default/grub to put a # before the two "Hidden" options.

save + Exit

Sudo update-grub.

Reboot with new previous kernel (3.19.0.30) from grub advanced menu. and afterwords purge the 3.19.0.31 kernel from system
