Bug Description

Since the .3 release of Ubuntu 14.04 LTS unity control center can't see the Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet (CTH-661). The tablet works, both xsetwacom and lsusb detects it and allows to change settings.

This problem occurs only in this release , tablet worked perfectly in 14.04.2 and 15.04. My guess is it may be also connected to unity-settings-daemon, but its only a guess because i have no idea of how to check this.

Thank you for your bug report. Unity-settings-daemon/control-center didn't change much, could you try booting an older kernel to see if that makes it work?

Pardon me , but isn't the kernel backported from 15.04 in 14.04.3? Tablet works alright , it's just that the control center cant detect it. And I moved to 15.04 so I can't do that, but I don't seem to understand why, since the Wacom drivers works, sorry.

On an update , downgrading the kernel to 3.13.0-63-generic fixed it. Thanks.

Unsure if this was fixed before, but I am having the same problem in Ubuntu 14.04.4, both in kernels 4.2.0-27.32-generic and 4.2.0-30.35-generic, with two different Wacom tablets (Volito2 4x5 and Bamboo). Xsetwacom and lsusb do detect the tablet, as well as GIMP, just not the control center.

Yes, still an issue with the Ubuntu's native wacom support.

It's now version 17.10 and the priority on this is set to "Low"? Is this some kind of a joke? Sorry for being a 3D artist wanting to use ubuntu but can't because tablet recognition bug is of low priority... Christ...

Hi there,
I got an intuos comics and I noticed the same. No detected by the unity control center, but working. So it's not a kernel issue, but just a UI one.

I have browsed the source of unity-control-center and in gsd-wacom-device.c it makes use of libwacom.
XSetWacom is not using that library.
So my bold guess is.. is this library able to detect our wacom devices?
I do not have a wacom tablet right now and I cannot test it.. but please run

apt-get install libwacom-bin
/usr/bin/libwacom-list-local-devices

to check if your device is listed.
If not the problem is about adding it to the list of devices supported by libwacom:

How is basic device support "low" priority? how is the official work-around to revert to a 3-year-old kernel version? either you want to support wacom tablets, at which point this is *high* priority, or you don't, at which point having "Wacom Tablet" as a first-level option under system settings is probably not a great idea, considering it has *literaly* no functionality.
