Bug Description

I cannot explain why my Ubuntu 15.04 setup is suddenly not capable of recognizing my USB 8GB stick. It worked yesterday, but not today. Didn't change anything except ran an apt-get upgrade.

Hope the attached logs can help you identifying the cause. Thanks!

The CurrentDmesg.txt attachment shows where the kernel hangs in detecting the device.

affects: udisks2 (Ubuntu) → linux (Ubuntu)

Does this issue go away if you boot back into the previous kernel?

@Joseph - I haven't tested that yet as I do not have the older kernels anymore but ...

... I can confirm that it worked few months ago fine before I upgraded the kernel!

... and one more interesting fact about this bug: I cannot mount my USB device when it's plugged in before booting into Ubuntu. But it detects the stick fine when I mount it afterwards, when Ubuntu is booted.
Looks like no USB sticks can be detected during the boot process ...

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.2 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

This error kind of affects me also when i use 3.19.0-28-generic. It does not occur under 3.19.0-26-generic.
I get messages in the dmesg, a delay after login and when I use usb-creator-gtk i get error messages.
