Touchpad not detected on Dell Chromebook 11

Bug Description

The up-to-date Xubuntu 13.10 install on my Dell Chromebook 11 does not detect the laptop's touchpad. The kernel is 3.11.0-18-generic. A USB mouse works under Xubuntu when connected, and the touchpad works under ChromeOS.

I also tried the trackpad under Ubuntu 14.04 beta 2 and it did not work. (Note the following debugging information is for the aforementioned 13.10 install.) If anyone would like me to update the kernel and test again I'd be happy to do so.

Apologies if this is essentially a duplicate of any of the non-Dell Chromebook touchpad bug reports.

$ cat /proc/version_signature
Ubuntu 3.11.0-18.32-generic 3.11.10.4

Output from 'lspci', 'dmesg', and /proc/bus/input/devices and /var/log/Xorg.0.log is attached.

Thanks.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.13 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

I've installed the latest upstream kernel on the Chromebook (v3.13.6-031306-generic). Unfortunately, it did not fix the problem with the touchpad. I've attached updated debugging info for the new kernel.

In case it's relevant, I'll also mention that after installing the new kernel I see the message "[ 1.834054] usb 2-4: string descriptor 0 malformed (err = -61), defaulting to 0x0409" when the machine boots.

Thanks!

Sorry, I realized you wanted me to update the kernel to 3.14.0-031400rc6-generic, not v3.13. I've done this. Unfortunately, it did not fix the problem with the touchpad. I've attached updated debugging info for the new kernel.

For those still having trouble with this, I just got mine working by merging the ArchLinux cros-haswell-modules.sh script with the Ubuntu one (just one line that I transferred from one script to another which contained the proper patch).

Here's my post and the pastebin of the script:
