Bug Description

Steps to reproduce:

1. Login to Ubuntu and use apps, e.g. I was using Firefox and Visual Studio Code
2. Close the laptop lid (note that I did not power down or close apps prior to closing lid)
3. Some time later...open the laptop lid
*** Keyboard does not respond - i.e. I can't type my password into the login field
*** Trackpad works fine. Touchscreen and "soft keyboard" work fine.
*** If I restart ubuntu logging in, the keyboard starts working fine.

While searching for a resolution to this problem, I found this StackExchange question which describes a similar problem on a similar type of laptop - Dell Inspiron.
