Bug Description
While i am Using Vmware player (open-vm-tools installed), suddenly, the screen start flickering and fully distortion. At this Point, you cant see anything on the VM (because the distortion are so heavy) and the only way to resolve this is to close the VM (or suspend and resume) and start it again until this happens again. At the moment, this happened, the following appears in the dmesg log:
[Fr Feb 5 23:32:21 2021] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] Resetting rcs0 for preemption time out
[Fr Feb 5 23:32:21 2021] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] vmx-mks[7873] context reset due to GPU hang
[Fr Feb 5 23:32:21 2021] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] GPU HANG: ecode 9:1:85dffffb, in vmx-mks [7873]
I can prove, this always appears when the described bug appears.
Before, i'm using also the same setup (OS, Env), but, an other Intel GPU. This did never Happen.

I've noticed, that this Problem only apperes, if i'm working with multiple Workspaces in gnome. Usualy, i've put the VM on the Second Workspaces.
Since i left the VM on the first Workspace (so, total one Workspace), this Problem won't accure. Before, this happened after about 1h. This is what i can say after about 8h of work.
To be sure, i will test this furthermore.
