So it filled up the root disk (256 MB) thereby it won’t update due to space issues.  I noticed this problem from Ubuntu 18 and up. So i have to delete old kernels manually on Terminal. Unfortunately, since the root disk is full it won’t allow me to update or remove the old kernels.  Thanks
