Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-panel
Workspace switcher preference window goes wild when it fails to communicate its state with the window manager. I use xmonad and I realize making gnome-panel applets to work with xmonad is not a high priority for the gnome team and actually I'm mostly ok with not being able to use the preferences dialog. What bugs me is that when I accidentially try to use the dialog it starts opening and closing itself in a tight loop. When I manage to click on close button of the dialog it goes away, but usually this take me several minutes during which I have to look at the insane flickering caused by the window going away and reappearing.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better, but unfortunately I've been unable to reproduce your issue on Ubuntu 8.10. Can you reproduce this issue with an Ubuntu LIVE CD and report back if the problem still exists on Ubuntu 8.10 LIVE CD? Also, I'm not sure what the versions of Ubuntu or the specific package you are referring to, can you post that information. Also, the exact steps you took to reproduce this bug.
