Bug Description

1) lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Release: 12.04

2) apt-cache policy libreoffice-writer
libreoffice-writer:
  Installed: 1:3.5.2-2ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:3.5.2-2ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 1:3.5.2-2ubuntu1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) What is expected to happen in, for example a blank Writer file, is when one clicks File -> Print... -> General tab -> button Properties... -> Device tab -> Printer Language type PostScript Level 3 -> button OK is when one goes back to Printer Language type it still shows the same thing.

4) What happens instead is it shows PostScript Level 2. If one choose PostScript Level 1, then when one returned it would still show Level 1.

Tried to run apport-collect, but apparently there aren't any LibreOffice hooks.
I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 64bit with current updates; all software versions (LibreOffice, CUPS etc) are stock Ubuntu 11.10.

This happens with both an HP Photosmart C4380, and an HP Photosmart C309a.
According to CUPS (1.5.0), the driver for both is hpcups 3.11.7 (color, 2-sided printing).

Bernhard Reiter, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport . If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about the status. Thanks in advance.

Steps to reproduce:
In a blank Writer file, click File -> Print... -> General tab -> button Properties... -> Device tab -> Printer Language type, and select PostScript Level 3, then press the OK button.

Current behavior:
When navigating to the dialog containing the Printer Language setting again, it is set to PostScript Level 2. (If one chose PostScript Level 1, then when one returns it would still show Level 1.)

Expected behavior:
PostScript Level 3 should persist as Printer Language setting.

@bernard,

you can fix this behaviour with the program spdamin located in program directory of Libo.

here on my Ubuntu 12.04
/opt/lodev4.0/program/spadmin

once fixed in this program, it will be set correctly on file - print.

Ubuntu 12.04 64Bits - Libo 4.0b1

Bernhard Reiter, one may use spadmin as noted in https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50358#c1 to change the default settings. In Ubuntu repo LO, one may launch spadmin at a terminal:
sh /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/spadmin

As well, the 3.5.x branch is no longer supported as per https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan#3.5_release . If you can reproduce the problem in a supported branch, please reopen this report.

Thank you for your understanding.
