UPDATE, but no solution:

Searching for a solution I stumbled upon ubuntupdates.org:

 http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/package/libreoffice/trusty/main/base/libreoffice-gnome

From the description:

 Package "libreoffice-gnome"
 This package belongs to a PPA: LibreOffice
 [...]

 You can extend the functionality of this by installing these packages:

 * libreoffice-evolution: Evolution addressbook support
 * evolution

O.K. I tried:
 #add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa && apt-get update

 # apt-get install libreoffice-evolution
 Reading package lists... Done
 Building dependency tree
 Reading state information... Done
 Package libreoffice-evolution is not available, but is referred to by another package.
 This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
 is only available from another source

 >>> E: Package 'libreoffice-evolution' has no installation candidate

... I am investigating further ....

This bug is still present in Ubuntu 15.04. I tried the same things Axel did and got the same results.

I hope there will be some progress on this. It is a crucial previous feature of LibreOffice in Ubuntu for me.

One can connect to Evolution local and LDAP addressbooks after removing the Ubuntu system packages (`libreoffice-common` and dependencies) and installing `.deb` packages from the LibreOffice website and using that version.

There's no support for Evolution addressbooks other than local and LDAD, like CardDAV.
