Bug Description
Binary package hint: language-selector
Expected result:
1. launch gnome-language-
2. add other language support (for example "German")
3. click "Apply Changes" and install packages.
4. complete install packages without any package removal.
Actual result:
4. complete install packages but ubuntu-desktop, firefox-
manually installing packages below without gnome-language-

Since you have reported this bug, I have committed several changes and fixes .
Could you please test with the latest release (0.5.1) or with the br branch linked above if this issue is still reproducable for you?
The fixes I have added should prevent packages from being removed when they are still needed.
However, as you mentioned the packages ubuntu-desktop, firefox- gnome-support and ubufox and *none* of them are handled by language-selector, my guess is that some other application or a system upgrade must have marked them as to be removed. Language-selector, when calling synaptic to remove obsolete translation packages, then just executed that task.
