Bug Description

Binary package hint: kvpnc

In Intrepid 8.10, kvpnc will connect to my university's VPN but does nothing when I click "disconnect" in the main window. The program simply freezes up and must be killed manually, and my internet connection is then still routed through the VPN.

This is using 0.99.0-1 from the repos. Everything works perfectly using the build from the kvpnc homepage here: http://home.gna.org/kvpnc/en/index.html

Please update the package in the repositories to the latest one as the kvpnc in the repositories is currently unusable.

I have the same problem, running KVpnc on Kubuntu 8.10. Fully updated.
Workaround:

# killall pptdgw

Is there fully working solution for PPTP VPN in Ubuntu? (NetworkManager not working too)

Actually, if you install kvpnc from their homesite (version 0.9.1), the disconnect works perfectly ...

I tryied to submit sync-request (see bug 326679), but there seems to be some problem with sync ...

This was eventually fixed with a Kubuntu updated. I've been using this application now for a while.

I am having this problem now using Latest release: 0.9.3-1ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala with current updates on everything. I really like KVpnc other then having to restart every once in a while to correct the stuck issue, when I try to disconnect, But taking it a step further I have to disconnect via the software because the VPN went down in the first place, otherwise I would have had no reason to try the disconnect, then try and close the software cleanly.

If I just enter the software, and don't connect a VPN, just work on profiles, no problem software will exit fine...

Keep up the Great Work KVpnc, & Ubuntu.

+1 for 0.9.3-1ubuntu1 failing.
Using racoon + ipsec.
Hit disconnect. Application becomes unresponsive AFTER racoon messages show racoon is disconnected. But racoon doesnt exit.
I have to kill kvpnc and racoon to recover.

I am using Xubuntu 12.04 with kvpnc 0.9.6a-2 - same problem here with racoon+ipsec how cwsupport described it.

Hitting diconnect leads Kvpnc to hang. An strace shows that the application tries to kill the tail-process:
<snip>
kill(2689, SIGKILL) = 0
rt_sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, [CHLD], [], 8) = 0
rt_sigaction(SIGCHLD, NULL, {0x7f813c0e7730, [], SA_RESTORER|SA_NOCLDSTOP, 0x7f813bd85cb0}, 8) = 0
rt_sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, [], NULL, 8) = 0
nanosleep({1, 0}, ^C <unfinished ...>
</snap>

This messages apears over and over again. So I searched for the process with the ID 2689:
 2689 ? Z 0:00 [tail] <defunct>

So, its a zombie, this process could not be killed. The father of this process is raccon which isn't stopped at this moment. If I kill racoon manualy nothing changes. The father of racoon is kvpnc. But this hangs ....
