kde "software updates" does not show third-party updates on maverick

Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

The KDE "software updates" window on Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick is not showing all updates.

At first I thought it was just third-party packages missing, but it appears to also not be showing several updates that both "aptitude safe-upgrade" and "apt-get upgrade" would attempt to upgrade.

Even the gnome update manager (/usr/bin/update-manager) shows 14 updates available, while the KDE updates window shows none - despite lots of clicking of "Check for updates"

Confirming this. Here I cant have "aptitude update" showing 21 available updates where kpackagekit will show only 3, or even sometimes zero.
