Bug Description
1. Plug a video camera via firewire (ieee 1394).
2. Start Kino
3. Go to Capture, no camera.
4. Go to Edit > Preferences > Capture, no 1394 modules found.
But if you "sudo Kino" everything works fine.
Considering that a user can download pictures from a camera or data from a USB stick without root permission, it is reasonable to offer the capability of downloading video to regular users as well.

Sorry, I did look for other bugs related to Kino but found no results... because I did the search restricted to Dapper only (I'm still getting used to Malone).
Now I see this bug was already submitted for Breezy: https:/ /launchpad. net/distros/ ubuntu/ +source/ kino/+bug/ 6290
If capturing video as regular user is not possible for whatever reason, it should be said somewhere visible, otherwise users get really confused.
