Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase-bin

I'm afraid this is a whiny feature request, not a proper bug :-).
I think it's self explanatory.

Thank you for filing this bug.

Either I don't understand what you mean, or this has been fixed. When I run something with kdesu either from konsole or from the menu, the password dialog gains focus and I can immediately type in the password. This is on current Feisty.

I tried gksu and I think I understand now. With gksu, you can only type in the gksu box and everything else is locked out. Is this what you are looking for?

That was my plan, as WType_Popup should take care of this.

I have tested it now with initial code for gutsy, and it works great.

Stay tuned for the final patches..

For what it's worth, if I understood Yuriy Kozlov's description correctly, it hasn't happened yet and I hope it doesn't happen ever. I think the user can decide on their own where they want to type, and if they want to switch to check something in another application (e.g. confirm a howto with their browser) before signing the already-opened kdesu dialog, they should be able to do so, without having to cancel out of the dialog. (Hence, if it was my choice, I would mark this report as Invalid, but it isn't for me to decide.)

Stefan, did anything happen with this?

Reassigning to kdesudo.

"Dim Screen for Administrator Mode" is now possible with KDE 4, so one part of this feature request is fulfilled.

Regarding the locked focus I couldn't accomplish it with window-specific settings - but as kko wrote this is probably not good usability anyway, so this bug report could be marked as fixed.

Small ping to the devs. This has been marked in progress for four years. kdesu still does not dim the screen nor steal all keyboard input. This is a somewhat-serious security issue, can it be fixed for Oneiric?
