Bug Description

I've upgraded from Hardy and KDE3 to Intrepid with obviously KDE4. Upgrade was smooth and caused no issue, but oddly the Saved Sessions in Kate are now using what appears to be the Session ID for the saved session name rather than the physical name. This is when I look at the drop down list of saved session names inside Kate itself. What's really odd is if I use the Kate Session Applet plasmoid it reads them fine and displays the proper names. Very bizare stuff.

If you need anything from me on this let me know, can't really give you the session files as they are remote sftp sessions. The only one that shows up correctly is "Default", the rest are gibberish, I've attached a screenshot of it.

Thanks,

Félim

I'd like to report I'm also encountering this.

Just upgraded to 8.10 from 8.04 and all Kate session names except the 'Default Session' now appear as hexdecimal strings.

Also, any new saved sessions created in Kate use the name the user gives. Only saved sessions from before upgrading are appearing as hexdecimal.

Just added the Kate Applet like the original poster and some of the names are now showing up correctly but there are still some in the list appearing as hexdecimal. I have about 21 saved sessions in Kate at the moment and 8 are still showing up as hexdecimal in the Kate Applet.

I tried the Plasmoid which seemed to read them correctly but it actually failed to load any of them. I resorted to renaming all my files based on the Name= field int he file... slow & painful but it worked (Substituting %20 for any whitespace chars).

More on the use of the Kate Plasmoid:

- Sessions where the names are now appearing don't open correctly (the Kate window opens but none of the files from the saved session are loaded)

- Sessions where the names are still hexdecimal open correctly (Kate window opens and all the files are opened also)

- There are repeated entries for some of my saved sessions, which appear to be causing problems with what session is actually opened. It seems as if the plasmoid is displaying one list (one with duplicate saved sessions), but then opens up a saved session with another list (possibly one without the duplicates)

- Also, the one new saved session I have created since updating opens correctly, unlike all the other entries where the original session names are showing.
