Bug Description

The icons-only task manager widget in plasma 5 (Kubuntu 16.04) has regressed in several aspects with respect to the version in 14.04.

Icons are now tiny compared with the "quick launcher" widget. Rectangles around the icons take space and are not useful because they do not give any information about the minimized state of the application. There is now no indicator that a single icon represents multiple windows. Windows asking for attention do not flash/highlight anymore.

Yes, I couldn't agree more. I'm trialling Kubuntu 16.04.1 (Qt 5.5.1). The Icons-only Task Manager is a pale shadow of what it is in KDE4. I've been hoping for an improvement ever since I tried K15.04 but it still sucks. The range of settings in KDE4 is so far superior to what we have in Plasma5. It looks better with the standard Breeze theme but unfortunately I prefer the Oxygen theme overall and the icons are too small with that.
