Bug Description

Binary package hint: k9copy

1) Ubuntu 9.10
2) k9copy:
  Installed: 2.3.3-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 2.3.3-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 2.3.3-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/multiverse Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

To reproduce: I click on "Configure k9copy" and select the "DVD" icon. I change the "Output directory" to something other than /tmp/kde-username/k9copy. I click Apply and then OK. I click "Configure k9copy" and see that the "Output Directory" is again back to /tmp/kde-username/k9copy. This happens no matter how often I do this.

I did realize that I can go down to the "Paths" icon, set the DVD output there, and that saves properly, and even updates the DVD icon's "Output Directory". So when the change is made at the DVD section, it does not get saved. When the change is made in the Paths section, it gets properly saved.

Please also increase the importance because this breaks k9copy: if the default directory (under /tmp) isn't large enough for the DVD, ripping is no longer possible. As k9copy is unusable, I currently use another application.

This would be great to get his fixed, definitely a huge problem if you keep a small root partition.

A temporary solution for me is with closed k9copy to create a directory on tmp with a symbolic link on anywhere you have more space for me like "/media/datas/tmp/k9copy/":
*********************************************************************
pg@pipoTower: /media/datas/linux$ rm -rf /tmp/kde-pg/k9copy/
pg@pipoTower: /media/datas/linux$ sudo ln -s /media/datas/tmp/k9copy/ /tmp/kde-pg/k9copy
pg@pipoTower: /media/datas/linux$ k9copy&
*********************************************************************
Works but you have to create the directory each time you boot your machine, /tmp is removed by reboot...

Another temporary solution can be to edit the configuration file directly, using your favorite editor, edit the file named ~/.kde/share/config/K9Copy, find the "[dir]" section, and modify the "output=" line with your favorite location
**************************************************************************
[dir]
output=/media/datas/tmp/k9copy
outputAudio=/home/pg
outputIso=/home/pg/tmp
outputMpeg2=/home/pg
outputMpeg4=/home/pg
**************************************************************************
Worked for me.... but still a workaround....

Workaround in #8 doesn't work for me (Ubuntu 10.04). After several hours looking and otherwise messing around, K9copy is the *only* DVD ripper I've founs for Ubuntu with support for automatic ripping of *multiple titles*. But if your / partition happens to be small, it's useless.

Please please fix this! :)
