Bug Description

Binary package hint: pm-utils

For some reason, the resume from disk fails. I had an encrypted swap, but I disabled it. The resume worked in Jaunty.

In dmesg, I have:
[ 1.198568] PM: Resume from disk failed.

Do you have any swap enabled at all now? If you have no swap, you can't
hibernate. If you have, then you should amend the RESUME= variable to your new
swap, as in the first column of your swap line in /etc/fstab.

The swap is enabled (but I feel that it is some time started slowly, which might be related to bug 477867).

I didn't understand to where I should amend the RESUME= variable. The /etc/fstab is attached to this comment.

The actual hibernate process seems to run correctly.

Replace your /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume's contents with:
RESUME=UUID=be1b368b-a2f2-4bda-a843-86c085aa67b8

This value was taken from the swap line in your fstab.

Thanks. This solved the issue (after running "sudo update-initramfs -u" and restarting).

Do I close this bug as invalid since I didn't switch properly from encrypted swap to unencrypted swap?

I'm confirming and shifting to initramfs-tools -- it needs a better way of updating the /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume file.

affects: pm-utils (Ubuntu) → initramfs-tools (Ubuntu)
