My computer wouldn't boot after upgrade from 14.04 to 14.10. Picking an older kernel resolved that bit, and then the error reporting lands me here.
After some debugging, installing memdiskfind and running dpkg --configure -a the boot issue got resolved. Not sure if the problem are related really, but maybe it helps someone.
